Chat

In KiteSuite, you have the option to communicate through chat. You can use the chat feature to share messages with your project members. KiteSuite also allows you to send messages directly to individual members. Essentially, KiteSuite offers two types of chat: Global chat, where you can chat with everyone in your workspace, and Project chat, which is specific to each project, allowing you to chat within the context of a particular project.

Global chat

To access the global chat, simply click on the chat icon.

In the global chat, you'll find all your chats, including project chats and individual user chats.

For example, if your workspace has two users and three projects, all of these will be visible in the global chat.

By default, when there are no messages, all the project chats appear at the top. As you start chatting, the list will adjust based on message activity.

Individual chat

In individual chats, you can start a conversation with a simple "Say hi" message or any custom message you like.

Once you send a message, it will appear in both the sender's and receiver's chat screens.

Project chat

Project chat acts like a group chat where all project members can communicate. If you have a message to share with all project members, this is the place to do it.

  • You can mention specific project users by typing "@" followed by their name, and a list of project users will appear.

You can choose one or select "All" to mention all project users.

  • Additionally, you can access the project chat directly from the project screen by opening the project and clicking on the chat icon.

Custom Group chat

From global chat settings users can create a custom group by providing the required information as following:

Express yourself with emojis or use the text editor tool to format your messages as needed.

  • Message Management

You have several options for managing your messages. You can edit, copy, reply, create an item, or delete a sent message.

  • Create Item

This option is available in both project and individual chats. It allows you to turn a chat message into a task.

For instance,

if you have a message saying "Hello," you can click "Create Item," modify the text as needed

Step1: Start with a message in the chat, let's say it's "Hello."

Step 2: Click on the "Create Item" button.

Step 3: A dialog panel will appear. Initially, it will display the text message "Hello." You can modify this text to suit your needs.

One dialog panel is appearing, First its show text message. You can modify it according to your need. Then you can select any project, as per your requirement. The “Hello” item will be show in the backlog section, of the selected project. IN the case of the kanban that will be shown in the board screen directly.

Step 4: Choose a project for this item. Select the project that makes the most sense for this task. After completing these steps, the "Hello" item will be added to either the backlog or the board screen, depending on your project's settings.

  • Project members & Chat gallery

On the right side of the chat, you'll see a list of all project members. The chat gallery option provides a convenient way to view attachments, files, and links shared in the chat.

You can find all media files and links from the specific chat in the gallery.

  • Tag item

You can tag items and sub-items in the chat using the "/" symbol. Just type "/" in the chat editor field, and a list of issues and sub-issues will appear for you to choose from. You can tag issues in both individual chats and project chats, and here's how it works:

Individually chat: In an individual chat, you'll only see issues and sub-issues that are part of your projects. If there are two projects in the workspace and you're only a member of one, you'll see issues from your project but not the other one. However, if you're an admin or workspace owner, you'll see all project issues, regardless of your project membership.

If there are two projects in the workspace and you're only a member of one, you'll see issues from your project but not the other one.

However, if you're a workspace admin or owner, you'll see all project issues.

Project chat: In project chats, you'll only see issues and sub-issues from the current project, not any others.

This makes tagging convenient and project-specific, ensuring you see the relevant items in your chats.
