Epic
Welcome to the EPIC screen, where you have the ability to create Epics and populate them with individual items. This screen offers a comprehensive view of all the items associated with an epic, showcasing their status, including Backlog, active sprint, and upcoming sprint.
It’s important to note that this screen is exclusively available within the Scrum project template, and is not accessible in the Kanban or Business templates.
Navigating between different epics is effortless, and the primary purpose of this screen is to help you effectively organize and categorize your items.
Craft Epics
To start utilizing the epic feature, your first step is to create an Epic. Once you’ve established your Epic, you can proceed to add or generate items within it. Just follow these straightforward steps to get things rolling:
Step 1 : Creating an EpicTo begin using the epic feature, initiate the process by clicking the “Create Epic” button. This action sets the foundation for your epic management.
Step 2 : Naming your Epic Give your epic a meaningful name by typing it into the provided field. Once you’re satisfied with the name, finalize the creation by clicking the “Create” button.

Explore Details
After successfully creating the epic, you can access its detailed screen by clicking on the settings icon.
Within the epic, you have the flexibility to rename it, include a description, attach files, and add items. Additionally, you can establish the start and due dates, among other options. Let’s delve into the specifics step by step.
Rename and Label Epics: Easily give your epic a new name and save changes with the click of a button.
Manage Labels: Create, enable/disable, or edit labels to organize your epics efficiently.
Epic Descriptions: Add or modify epic descriptions to provide context and clarity.
Attachments and Tasks: Enhance your epics by adding attachments, tasks, and even linking them to other epics
Initially, you have one attachment option. But you can also upload from Google Drive and Dropbox by enabling their integrations.
Comment and History: Engage with your epics by leaving comments and reviewing their history.
Additional Epic Details: Participate in voting, assign watchers, share epics, update statuses, utilize start and end dates, and assign a reporter. By default, the reporter is the epic’s creator.
Epic Management: Delete epics and use flags to highlight important ones.
Append items to the Epic
After creation the epic following screen is showing. As you can see there are two epics “Dummy Epic 1” and “Dummy Epic 2”. Currently “Dummy Epic 1” is active.You have two options for adding the task to Epic.
1. Add existing task
Imagine you have a task within your project that you want to place under a specific Epic. To achieve this, you can follow these steps:
Step 1: Click on the “Add existing task” button.
Step 2: A new window will appear, displaying all the items currently existing in the project.
Step 3: You can add items to the Epic by selecting them from the list and clicking the “Add” button. The “Add” button becomes active once you’ve chosen items from the list.
2. Create task
Imagine you need to add new tasks by creating new tasks. To achieve this, you can follow these steps:
Step 1: Click on the “Create Task” button.
Step 2: A new window will appear. Add the task name and click on the “Submit” button.
Monitoring Tasks and Epic Progress
Once tasks have been added to an Epic, you can easily view the full list of tasks within that Epic. Just click on the specific Epic you’re interested in. In the example screenshot below, “Dummy Epic 1” has been chosen, and all the tasks displayed on the screen belong to that particular Epic. This feature makes it convenient to oversee and manage tasks associated with each Epic.
Progress of the Epic
Monitor the complete progress of your Epic using the Circular Percentage Graph. The displayed percentage changes based on the status of the individual items within the Epic. For instance, if all the items are marked as “Done,” the percentage will display as 100%, indicating full completion. This visual representation provides a quick and easy way to assess how your Epic is advancing.
Collapse Backlog/Sprints
Once tasks have been added to an Epic, you can easily view the full list of tasks within that Epic. Just click on the specific Epic you’re interested in. In the example screenshot below, “Dummy Epic 1” has been chosen, and all the tasks displayed on the screen belong to that particular Epic. This feature makes it convenient to oversee and manage tasks associated with each Epic.
